For several months, I had a 200 MHz Pentium system processing over 10,000 
emails daily, with content filtering too. I don't recall the load average 
exceeding 0.3. This is with poor hardware, slow hard drive, and insufficient 
RAM. A proper server could obviously handle much more than 10,000 daily.

I would guess based on what I've seen that Postfix scales quite well.
