Thanks for the hint.

I'm not really sure whether the NAT firewall (A Cisco device,
I will have to ask the staff at my university tomorrow in
order to get more information about it), because the problem
appeared before the NAT firewall was there.  The server is
running a pf based firewall doing SYNPROXY on port 25.  I
will check these configuration ASAP.
