About the author
Your humble author's real name is Chris Horry, I'm English but currently (as of 2000) live in Florida. After almost a decade in the United States I'm a weird hybrid mix of both cultures. I'm married to Kelly with three children, two sons and a girl on the way in 2008. Add two dogs into the mix and our home life is very hectic but a lot of fun! To trade, I'm a technical support engineer for a software company who provide high availability products to large businesses. In other words, I help people do backups. It's a lot more interesting than it sounds on paper. Wibble UK started in July 1998 when I registered the wibble.co.uk domain. The reasons behind registering it where purely selfish, I found it first and I thought it was cool. I decided to start putting content on it shortly thereafter, the original idea was to have some funny technical support calls but the focus quickly shifted to hosting Collette's jokes list with other random stuff I found interesting mixed in. It has been variously hosted for free by Nildram, Newton Solutions and Linuxshell in England, Sweden and the United States making it a well travelled web site! My grateful thanks to go to those companies. Wibble UK was shut down for 2 years between 2002 and 2004 because I simply didn't have the time or motivation to run it anymore. I still don't really have the time, but my motivation skills have improved. We went through our first major redesign in 5 years at the end of 2007. These days it runs on my own hardware (A trusty Dual PIII-650 running Linux and serving pages via Apache 2) connected through my RoadRunner business line in central Florida. Wibble UK consistently racks up a surprsingly large number of hits, over 100,000 most months. All I can say is, there's a lot of people out there who are really bored. Those banner ads are hopefully not too intrusive, the revenue from people clicking on them pretty pays for my bandwidth (and by expansion my Cable TV), but it'd be nice if I could retire one day and live off this site. I can dream! If you enjoyed your visit, please support this site by visiting some of my sponsors or by clicking on the save the teapot fund (which goes towards groceries, and by extension - tea).
